Nancy Pelosi, House of speaker of the America visited Taiwan. China started deploying it's soldiers around Taiwan, with some crossing the median line, an unofficial buffer separating the two sides, in what the Taiwan military described as a simulation attack on the island. This incident again triggered a fear of war.
Why this visit is so important?
Nancy Pelosi is the speaker of the house of representative of the lower house of America. Her rank is third in the Amrican administration after the president and the vice president.
She has been criticising China's policy for long time. She left no stone unturned to criticise when China failed to provide civil rights, human rights violations especially against ughyer Muslims. She is the top official visited China after 25 years. The last visit by any top official of America was in 1997.
According to the One China policy, Taiwan a province of China but Taiwan rejected the claim. Taiwan claims it's independence and a democratic government unlike China.
Presence of any top official in Taiwan underline the sovereignty of Taiwan. China would take strict action, foreign minister said.
What can be it's implications?
A direct challenge to the Xi jinping.
Nationalism is at the climax in China after this incident. People of China demanding crackdown against Taiwan. If China don't do any crackdown then it will be considered as a great defeat for the China.
China has started it's military excercise at six points, near the boundary of Taiwan. China termed it as a Targeted military operation not a military excercise. China has also blocked the ports of Taiwan. Trade restrictions increased might affect the economy of Taiwan.
Any action of China may lead have big ramifications - could effect world's economy. A already ongoing War may extend long. Taiwan is the largest producer of chips, so electronic gadgets and their prices may be increased.
Background
Taiwan is about 160 km far from China. It is a Island.
The first China -Japan War in 1895, China was defeated. Taiwan came in hand of Japan. Taiwan had been under control of Japan for long time.
1-september 1939 - second world War. Japan surrendered in 1945 and Taiwan once again fell in hand of China.
The civil war in China started in 1927. The king Dynasty ruled China for 4000 years and it ended in 1911 after a revolt. Then a coalition government formed called Republic of China consisting of two parties one is kuyomitang party and other was China communist party.
In 1927 Civil War started and it ended in 1949 , communist party won.
In 1949, People Republic of China was formed.
Nationalist kuyomitang party leaders went to Taiwan and formed Republic of China and Peoples Republic of China formed in China. Both are different, China claims Taiwan it's province.
Position of India
India follows One China Policy and has no any formal relations with Taiwan. In 1995, both the government appointed their representatives in the capital. Over the last last decade, India has changed it's policy towards Taiwan not mentioning and ignoring One China Policy in its official documents.
In 2014 in the PM swearing in ceremony, Taiwan was invited.
We have also bilateral trade of 7.5 billion dollar in year 2019. If the relations between India and China deteriorated then India and Taiwan relations will be strengthened. Taiwan is recognised by only 13 countries in the world, even America doesn't recognise Taiwan as a nation state.
Is there any possibility of War between China and Taiwan?
Can't ignore it after the visit. The world is dividing into two poles. Russia and Pakistan supported China where as Taiwan succeeded to garner support from the western Europe.
But it has less chance of a full-fledged War. China has a very fast economy growth and it knows if it engage in the War there would be a huge loss for its economy and it's dream to become World power may be shattered.
Very good
