Global hunger index 2022

Recently Ireland and Germany based two European countries released the Global Hunger Index 2022. It ranks India at 107out of 121, and is behind of Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and China.

India termed the data is inaccurate and used flawed methodology. In a firm criticism of the report the government raised concerns over the sourcing of data, and lack of transparency.

The report released with an aim to reduce to zero hunger by the year 2030 as per sustainable development goal SDG 2.

How to measure?

Generally, it has been seen that the lack of foods lead to hunger but formally lack in calories to both men and women in both rural and urban areas are fixed, if a person is failed to get the fixed calorie then it can be said to be hunger.

But this report does not work on this line. It follows a different methods. It has fixed it's standards based on four parameters.

1. Malnutrition

2. Child stunting

3. Child Wasting

4. Child death rate.

There have been many challenges posed by human like: spreading of the corona that led to complete lockdown, pandemic and millions of deaths and the Russia Ukraine war. When the corona some minimises, a another challenge came Russia and Ukraine war. This war creates a condition of food scarcity and security in the world. Apart from this it also raised the prices of crude oil.

India always followed the policy not only to feed it's native but also to the people of World. Therefore, India this year supplied more food grains to other countries so that there lives could be saved.

I am not complaining the data released in the Global Hunger Index, nor i suggest, i only try to give message that India is saving the lives of billions who don't know from where the food grains are coming.

For Indian, the government has made several schemes to combat the challenges like pandemic, and war. It gave free vaccine to all, extra 5 kg grains is given to each beneficiary, and several economic reforms.

In this report Belarus tops in the list while Chad is at bottom followed by Congo.

Tarique Rahman returns Bangladesh after 17 years of self exile to UK

Tarique Rahman returns Bangladesh after 17 years of self exile to UK. BNP acting chairperson Tarique Rahman returns Bangladesh after 17 years of self-exile, triggers a ray of hope among people especially minorities living there whose lives are at stake due to frequent incidents of violence. His return can be seen as ending of BNP leadership vacuum and projecting him as a Prime Ministerial post. When he exiled Bangladesh in 2008, never believed he would return Bangladesh but this time as there is no big party before him and general election scheduled on February 12 in 2026, giving him a golden chance to come to power through election. But one of the biggest intersting things is that some members of NCP still don't want to ally with jamaat e Islami. This jamaat e Islami has a very controversial historical records and divisise policy. This jamaat e Islami had waged a war in Bangladesh and has a great sympathy with Pakistan. During military rule in Bangladesh, Shiekh Mujibur Rahman w...
