Don't say: Who's calling?
Say: May I know who's calling?
Don't say: I want to speak to Mr Ram.
Say: May I speak to Mr Ram.
Don't say: Could you ask him to call me back?
Say: Could you ask him to return my call?
Don't say: where are you speaking from?
say: Where are you calling from?
Don't say: Can you ring back later?
say: Could you call back later?
Don't say: The line is engaged?
say: The line is busy.
Don't say: I cannot get through him.
say: I cannot get through to him.
Don't say: This is a call from outside your city.
say: This is an outstation call.
While speaking on the phone.
1. Don't speak while the other is talking, say. ' Excuse me ' if you want to interrupt.
2. Speak loud enough to be heard. Don't shout!
3. Speak slowly and clearly.
4. Be polite on the phone.
