National News

1. Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend G20 Summit in India. 

- He did not attend last year 17th G20 summit held in Bali, Indonesia and also stayed away from the 15th BRICS summit held in South Africa.  

- He has remained absent from the International summit since the Russia- Ukraine war which was broke out in Feb 2022.

- The President of USA and Prime Minister of Australia have announced their plans for India.

2. Punjab Governor threatens he would impose President rule in Punjab if constitutional mechanism breaks. 

- Punjab governor Banwari Lal Purohit on Friday said he could send letter to the President. The President invoking Article 356 of the Indian constitution, impose President rule if any constitutional mechanism fails mentioned in the letter sent by the governor.  

International News.

1. BRICS decides to admit 6 new countries as the permanent members of the block.

- Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and UAE will be inducted as the full-fledged members of this block on 1st of January 2024, a decision taken by consensus in the 15th BRICS summit held in Johannesburg, South Africa. 

2. UNDP statement on the new Global Biodiversity Framework Fund.

- Environmental leaders from 185 countries gathered in Vancouver, to launch a fund to support global conservation. 

- The World's least developed countries and Small islands countries will take priority and receive more than a third of the funds.
