Recently, the parliament has passed a bill relating public examination in which several new things have been added in order to conduct fair examinations.
The new Public Examination ( prevention of unfair means) act 2024 prevents any kinds of unfair in examination ranging from cheating to organised crimes in exams and provisions of imprisonment and hefty fine also add colour to this new law.
There would be imprisonment of 5 to 10 years and fine upto 1 crore rupees definitely showing the correct intention of the government how much it is focussing on exam system however the unemployment rate is still at high across India.
The law is passed in the parliament, however states are not bonded to enforce the law in their states. It's all depends upon the discretion of the states wether to follow or not.
The news of paper leaks, cheating, or unfair means in the exams always disheartened the industrious students who study to make their career in the government sector and the other side of the people who get benifits through the unfair means have no competency like genuine students, they either enter in the system through brokers, unfair means or giving huge bribes.
This act also prohibits organised crimes committed by any organisation to help candidates in getting qualified, are likely to come under axe by the government agencies and may be they will not be allowed to further conduct exams in the near future.
Hefty fines somehow restrain the malpractice of exams and creates a fear among the syndicates of munnabhai ( an acronym used for cheater).
However, the government has vowed to prevent unfair in the examination there are some other factors on which the state governments must rely on or contemplate.
1. The states must come forward to enact this law in their states.
2. The supervisors of the department must aware and vigilant so that not a single mistake can occurs.
3. Officials must be on vigil ahead of exam and the acts of officials should not affect the mindset of true aspirants during examination.
