Global Wind Day 2024.
Global Wind Day is observed on 15 June every year since 2007 aims to promote renewable energy and decrease dependency on fossil energy. It helps in reducing green house gas.
India started renewable energy in the decade of 80s and with relentless efforts made by government of India over the last 10 years, it brought India at 3rd rank in the world in terms of Wind energy.
Right now India is harnessing 46 GW Wind energy. India is well - prepared to achieve it's target of 500 GW renewable energy by the year 2030.
Officers concerned say that renewable energy is necessary in the changing climate and emphasised the importance and coordinations of states to achieve this target. They also said there would be requirement of 30 lakhs crore as an investment in this sector to achieve this target over six years. It is worth noted that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has set target of net zero emissions by 2070 and efforts are undertaken in this regard.
The government of India has launched several schemes which helped in investment in order to achieve this target easily.
