1. Preventive detention not to prolong custody: supreme court says.

- the supreme court said if an accused again commits a crime after coming out on bail then such a situation could be handled under ordinary law by seeking cancellation of bail or challenging bail in higher courts but it cannot be the sole ground to invoke preventive detention.
2. ED to move Supreme court over Mamta Banerjee action hindering probe.
- Enforcement Directorate had decided to move the supreme court seeking remedy against the unfortunate action of West Bengal chief minister in obstructing the probe and tampering with evidence in a PMLA case against I-PAC, and a nod to continue with its probe against the political consultancy agency.

- Iran was largely cut off from the outside world on Friday after authorities blacked out the internet to curb growing unrest, as video showed buildings ablaze in anti-government protests raging in several cities across the country.
2. Russia fires hypersonic missile at target near NATO border in Ukraine.
- Russia fired a powerful hypersonic missile Friday at target in Ukraine near the border with NATO member Poland, in what Kyiv's European allies describe as an attempt to intimidate them from supporting Ukraine.
