FIFA World Cup 2022 | Why Qatar is controversial host for the 2022 World Cup
Football is one of the famous and most played games in the world. FIFA world cup is held every four year, the last world cup was held in 2018 in Russia. The decision was taken in 2010. It is first in the Western Asia.
The former chief of FIFA has passed a controversial statement saying that it was a wrong decision to give Qatar to host FIFA 2022. Other issues like homosexuality, violence and discrimination against women, migrants laborers especially in the Gulf region.
Issue of Homosexuality in FIFA
Homosexuality is completely banned in Qatar, any one who failed the law amounts to fines, seven years imprisonment or death penalty.
The Khalid Salman, a representative of the Qatar World Cup said that 'Homosexuality is just a "loss of mind". However, LGBTQ+ people are allowed but have to follow the Qatar homosexuality rules. His excerpts interviewed has been stopped.
Human rights watch of Qatar has recently published its reports saying LGBQT+ people in Qatar are being arrested , persecuted and forced them to change their gender. It is expected that, a million visitors will come in Qatar.

Qatar allows all fans across the world but has no clarity. It's conservative thought got flakes jfrom many European teams.
In this world cup captains of 13 European teams will wear multicolored armed band, to reflects the importance of LGBTQ+.
Issue of migrants workers.
Around 30 thousands migrants workers from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri lanka, Nepal and Philippines were brought to Qatar in use to build a basic infrastructure of the FIFA stadium.
The Amnesty International report 2016 revealed that the plight of the migrants workers in Qatar was a matter of concern. Qatar holds the wages of the workers, taking forced recruitment fees, kept out their passports, forced to live in slums and other kinds of misbehavior acts on the migrant workers.
Qatar government is also accused of promoting "Kafala System". In this system, migrant workers had to take prior permission from the employers in case of changing jobs, returning homes, opening bank accounts, etc.
Efforts made by Qatar government
Qatar introduced a new law, tried to abolish Kafala system. Now, it has abolished employer permission. Workers now have not to work outside in summer.
Although, the Qatar government enacted the law, but it has not yet better results. The problems pose danger before the workers. The report says 6,500 workers have died till date from 2010. But Qatar turned down the report.
Question arises on selection process.
Many sources claim Qatar used dirty tricks to by votes for hosting FIFA 2022. The decision to host FIFA 2022 was taken by FIFA council consisting of 24 members.
. Now it has 37 members.
Benefits to Qatar for hosting FIFA 2022
By hosting the world cup, Qatar is trying to change its orthodox image , and will get a chance to make a modern Qatar. It will also open its commercial routes and try to become at par with Dubai. We said earlier that football is very famous game its value can be gauged from the data that around 3.6 billion people were watching 2018 FIFA cup held in Russia either on television, radio or other means. Lakhs of visitors reached Russia to see the World cup, this helped Russia to boost its economy.
It is expected that Qatar will grow about 17 billion dollar from this world cup , which is about 10% of the GDP of Qatar.
