Lala Lajpat Rai born on 28 January 1865 in Punjab. He is famously called "Lion of the Punjab". He was among the leaders of Lal-Bal-Pal. He got his law degree from the government college of Lahore. But in 1914, he left this job and joined in active politics.
He was inspired from the ideas of Hindu reformers Swami Dayananda Saraswati and Italian revolutionary leader Guessep Mazzini. In 1905, Bengal partition, he strongly advocated the use of indegenously goods and bycotted foreign goods.
He went to Britain in 1914 and from 1917 to 1920 stayed in America. In 1917, he established "Indian Home rule league of India" in Newyork. He was also the member of British Labour Party, in Britain. He also held the chairmanship of Kolkatta session of Indian National Congress in 1920. He was in Jail from 1921 to 1928.
He started Hindustan Information Services Association and published a monthly magazine "Young India". He strongly protested "Simon Commission" , which was formed before time to make report on the impact of India Act 1919, also called Montesque Chelmsford Act. This commission did not have a single indian member. During protest in Lahore,on 30 october, 1928, he led non-violence protest against Simon Commission, he injured during Lathi Charge carried out by James Scott. On 17 of Nov 1928, he passed away due to heart attack in Lahore.
