National News

1.  NCP leaders endorse Supriya Sule as the next President, after Sharad Pawar quits as NCP chief.

- Pawar will take a final call in 2-3 days.

2. The Supreme Court declined to commute death penalty of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh's assassin Balwant Singh Rajona to life imprisonment. Balwant Singh, a convict in the 1995 assassination case of Beant Singh, has been in jail for the past 26 years.

3. The IMD said that a Cyclone may form at the Bay of Bengal by early next week.

- A low pressure area is generally pre-cursor to the development of a cyclone, and according to the IMD's calculation it is expected to take shape on May 7.

International News.

1. Indian ranks 161 out of 180 countries in the World Press Freedom Index.    

- The report released by Reporters without Borders(RSF), Norway, Ireland and Denmark occupied top three positions while Vietnam, China and North Korea constituted the bottom three.

2. Chinese Finance Minister Qi Gang to arrive India and will held a meeting with Indian Foreign Minister on the sidelines of SCO summit in Goa.
