Causes and Objectives of civil disobedience movement.

The civil disobedience movement was launched by Mahatma Gandhi between 12 March and 6 April. This moment amed to intensify independence struggle against British through non -violence resistance and mass participation. The CDM marks the beginning of transformation from limited participation of people to mass participation in the freedom struggle. Dandi march was the beginning of the CDM from Sabarmati ashram to Dandi.

Causes. 

1. The demand for complete independence:  the declaration of Purna Swaraj at Lahore congress session in 1929 increased the demand of Purna Swaraj or self government.

2. Failure of constitutional reforms British policies were exploitative in nature and their limited nature of reforms disappointed Indian leaders and public. 

3. Opposition to the salt tax: the salt tax affected all section of society and became the symbol of British exploitation.

4. The economic hardships: the economic crisis of 1930 latitude rising of unemployment rising of prices and hardships among peasants and workers. 

5. Repressive British policies: the arrest of leaders and restrictions on civil rights disappointed people.

6. Failure of negotiation: the demand sent by Mahatma Gandhi was rejected, leaving Mass education as the remaining option.

Objectives of the civil disobedience movement. 

1. To achieve complete independence through nonviolence resistance and mass participation. 

2. To oppose unjust British lodge through non violence. 

3. Do you night different sections of India. 

4. To weaken the legitimacy of British authority.

5. To promote self Reliance and political consciousness.
