Dayanidhi Maran, less believe in diversity of India
A recent video went viral in which DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran purportedly underscoring the importance of English and undermined the Hindi speaking people who hail from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. In his justification, citing example of Sundar Pichai the Google CEO, a native of Tamil Nadu, had the Google CEO learnt Hindi, he would have been employed as a construction worker . His prejudice view also describes Hindi speaking people are meant for menial jobs. But he forgot that if people stop going there, normal life to these states will become crippled.
The political uproar triggered as Bihar deputy CM Tejaswi yadav disapproved the comment and called for measured language in public discourse. Here his comment can be seen as a North South debate in the upcoming Lok Sabha election, scheduled in next year.
Andhra was formed carved out from the Telugu speaking state Madras, subsequently a series of demands for new states on the basis of language aroused. Today after 75 years of independence and the era of Ajadi ka Amrit Mahotsav which has recently concluded on 31 October on the day of National Unity Day this year, completing 1000 days of running of Apni Mati Apna Desh campaign started on 12 March 2021. National Unity Day is celebrated every year since 2014, to mark the birth anniversary of freedom fighter late Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who had great contribution in the integration of 552 princely states into Indian territory. Police action in Hyderabad, referendum in Junagadh and a letter of annexation of Kashmir were three major challenges before the Iron man of India.
Why the problems always persist with the people of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh? and way forward.
1. The Hindi heart land states including Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are poor states and are least developed than South India in all terms like education, infrastructure and investment.
2. The North India economy is largely depends upon agriculture and it is one of the main source of livelihood. Unlike Punjab and Haryana, here people do subsistence farming to appetite their hunger.
3. After adoption of law of inheritance, the land holding capacity rendered slow economy from agriculture side. Here the population of Bihar is about 13,07,26,310 of which 6,41,31,990 and 6,11,38,460 are male and female respectively. The sex ratio of Bihar is 953 as per caste survey data released by state government on October-2. The land holding capacity of Bihar was 1.15 hectare in 2011 and it shrinked to 1.0 hectare in 2016. The new land holding data is yet to issued and is being estimated can go below 1.0 hectare.
4. Highest population density, also mars the estimates and derailed the development. The distribution of natural resources is not in equitable form, here 80 percent resources own by only 20 percent of people.
5. Requires huge investment from both domestic and foreign to boost economy of Bihar which is crippling with funds for development in all areas.
6. Seeking centre aids give title to Bihar as a special State. Giving title of special status, a state enjoy full immunity of resources from the central government.
