Pradhan Mantri Suryodya Yojana | India's goal of becoming self-reliant
In this content we shall see how the dedicated and consolidated efforts can transform India and put India a position from one of the largest importer of fuel to a self-reliant country, which spends its 60 to 70 % foreign currency on importing fuels from other country and it puts India a lots of pressure on exchequer also.
On January 22nd, the same day of consecration of Ram Lalla idol in Ayodhya Nagari, the Prime Minister of India announced Pradhan Mantri Suryodya Yojana. This is New Rooftop Solar Power Scheme aims to utilisation of solar rooftop by even laymen of the country and save their money even as the there is a mounting of electrical bills on people and this scheme will help people to use clean energy by installing solar plates on their top of their roofs. This scheme will initially cover 1 crore people across India where people will get solar panel to install on their roofs.
The aim of this scheme to reduce the dependency on fossils fuels and devise an alternative so that more and more energy can be harnessed to meet the requirement of our country. This is Solar Energy, a complete renewable source of energy which will never be diminished. It is cycled and need not to worry about pollution. How does it help India keep India's foreign currency increasing. For the last 3 decades the growing demands of energy in all sectors required a lot of energy to meet the growing demands and the changing of climate due to burning of fossil fuel soared the level of average temperature of the world so it is felt necessary to devise an alternative way to meet the growing demands.
India by geographically lies in tropical zone and has huge potential to harness solar electricity than other countries. So India a pioneering champion doing all efforts to make India a self-reliant and become the world's third largest economy in the world in the coming years by expanding its secondary and tertiary sectors. After the globalisation starts in India, India has been increasingly uplifting its position in the world's economy ranking.
The new scheme will target the residential consumers and it will help to reduce electric bills. "Save energy Save Money', applies for all. When we start using solar energy we will learn the importance of energy and how does it come to us need to understand everyone one who use them recklessly. Even those who use electrical appliances like freeze, cooler, air conditioner, and other electrical gadgets bear a huge electric bill each months, here a difference will be clearly seen when they start solar rooftop. Here the need to change the mentality of people that it is just a one time investment and result is awesome and beneficial is long lasting.
India's Current Solar Capacity.
Recently, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy publishes its reports, reveals that India has total Solar power installed capacity is 73.31 GW as of December 2023. And the total Rooftop solar installed capacity is 11.08 GW as of December 2023. Rajasthan tops in the total solar capacity with 18.7 GW followed by Gujarat with 10.5 GW.
Gujarat tops in the list of Rooftop solar capacity with 2.8 GW followed by Maharashtra with 1.7 GW.
Expansion of Solar Energy.
India with huge requirement from both secondary and tertiary sector as well as growing domestic expenditure, it is felt need a reliable source of energy. The projection is 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
Solar power capacity expansion increased from less than 10 MW in 2010 to 70.10 GW in 2023.
Rooftop Solar Program.
The Solar Rooftop program was launched in 2014 aimed to expand India's rooftop solar installed capacity in residential sector by providing central financial assistance. Its goal is increase solar installed capacity to 40 GW by March 2026. Country's rooftop solar has increased from 1.8 GW as of March 2019 to 10.4 GW as of November 2023.
India has set target of 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. There are several schemes are being run by the government of India.- National Solar Mission, International Solar Alliance, PM- KUSUM.
Conclusion.
All the above schemes aim to promote solar energy and un-tap the hidden potential of solar energy. Since it is renewable and has no side effect on our environment.
