Post Office Act 2023 | in detailed discussion. The new Post Office Act 2023 has been implemented on 18 June 2024, and it will supercede the 125 years old Post Office Act 1898. In this content we shall try to understand why is it needed and also see the difference between the new and old law of the Post Office. This Post Office Act 2023, has drawn flak from many political parties due to various reasons. It allows to stop, open and seize the parcel to the custom officials if it poses threats to state, marring international relations with any country or create challenges to any laws. Therefore, it somehow empowering the centre.  The section 9 of the new Post office Act empower Post officials to submit the parcels to the custom officials, if they find any prohibited objects inside the parcel.

The Prime Minister and his cabinet have already been sweared by the president of India, and the other members of the Loksabha are sweared by the Loksabha speaker.  Bhartihari Mehtab, a seven time MP from Cuttack, Orissa has been selected as the protem speaker of the Loksabha and he will administer the oath of office to the Loksabha members. Once the oath is completed, the MP become eligible to take participate in the debate and can give vote in the Loksabha on any bill.  If an MP who has won the election but has not taken oath is not entitled to take participate in the daily routine affairs of the Loksabha as well as he or she can not give vote.  What about MPs who are in jail.
